Jayne Wheatley

Jayne Wheatley trained as a Forest school leader at Tamar Lakes in Cornwall in 2015, where she implemented and delivered sessions to a home education group aged between 3-8 years. During this time, she realised that working outdoors and spending time in nature, and working within her specialist area of Early Years, was where her passion lay. She has never looked back!

Jayne has worked with several nursery settings in Devon but, after a brainstorming session with a friend, she decided to set up a business in 2017, when Mudtastic was founded. Forming Mudtastic gave her the opportunity to share that passion with a wider range of children and adults, promoting a healthy lifestyle and well-being for all, within an innovative, inclusive experiential learning environment. She has regularly implemented Forest School and outdoor learning into the curriculum, and now runs a broad range of regular sessions for all ages.

From my own childhood

For as long as I can remember, I spent every minute of my childhood outdoors in green spaces, messing about in the stream at the bottom of the garden and coming home caked in mud. Here, aged 7, I’m enjoying a family picnic and touching a local deer that freely roamed around on a sunny day in Richmond Park, London.
