Rebecca Willison

Rebecca Willison is currently studying for a Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification. She feels lucky to have had the freedom to enjoy an outdoor childhood; something she believes every child deserves.

Rebecca achieved a First-Class Degree in Psychology at Plymouth University. During her degree studies she formed an interest in the developing mind, spending time in various school placements. Her dissertation was based on children’s emotional development and involved her working closely with a local primary school. This focus led to a postgraduate training role with Exeter University and to 7 years as a therapist in North Devon.

More recently Rebecca has completed two courses in the arts, writing and illustrating her own children’s book, and has volunteered with various age groups at Appledore Primary School, sharing her creativity with the children. Rebecca adores spending time with her two daughters and providing them with as much freedom as possible to enjoy a childhood in nature like hers. She loves combining her love for learning and for nature and is committed to a career in outdoor education.

From my own childhood

When I was a child, I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time in nature. Here I am in a den I had built in The New Forest where my parents took me and my sister on camping trips. Once we found an adder and reported it to the ranger, it was quite the adventure!
