To the woods!

We offer fun, active and adventurous woodland clubs for children, throughout the school holidays. There is an equally warm welcome for Appledore school children and those who do not attend the school. We are outdoors all day, learning new skills, enjoying activities and connecting with the natural environment. Activities can include den building, minibeast hunts, fire lighting challenges, campfire cooking, tree climbing, wild play, tool use, woodwork, nature-based crafts, natural paints and pigments, foraging, mud art, pond dipping -something for everyone!

Learning while you play

The ethos of forest school is embedded in our practice, offering self-discovery, independence, creativity and sense of achievement through hands-on activities. We encourage children to respect each other, themselves and nature, to work as a team when required but also to feel free to follow individual lines of enquiry, risk or exploration, within a stimulating, safe and supportive environment. Our relaxed, non-competitive, non-judgemental culture offers children the opportunity to try new things, learn from their mistakes, experiment and problem solve, without pressure.

Happy endings

We provide a warm snack and hot drink around the fire circle when we close the session, to encourage group reflection and discussion, including sharing their best bits of the day!

They will need a packed lunch and drink, full outdoor clothing with waterproofs and a spare change of clothes as it likely they will get messy!
